Used in situations where the drill pipe is buried or stuck and cannot be lifted. The exact location of the incident is determined, and a drill pipe of a smaller diameter is used in conjunction with a pipe cutter. Hydraulic pressure is applied to rotate and cut off the stuck drill pipe section, after which the pipe is trimmed.
